Children's Health in Spain

If you and your family are entitled to Social Security health care, your child can be registered with a pediatrician at your local Centro de Salud.

Unlike in Britain and some other countries, vaccination is compulsory in Spain if you wish your child to be enrolled in a Spanish school.

Many families join a private service called Helicopteros Sanitarios which offers an emergency service by road or air and will dispatch a doctor to your home at any time, day or night.

Do be aware that the summer sun in Spain is fierce and your child's skin will need to be protected with a suitable sun block or very high factor sunscreen. In fact, the sun is strong all year round and it is not unusual to burn in December or January.
